Engineering Design and Prototyping
The Colworth Science Park Design and Prototyping workshop produces mechanical and electronic prototype components, complete machines, production lines and scientific apparatus. It is a one stop shop that provides all facilities to design, manufacture, assemble, test, install and commission plant.
Demanding design and manufacturing challenges are common place. Our staff are experienced in finding solutions through novel design, using specialist materials and manufacturing techniques to achieve the desired results.
How can we help you?
Staff are able to work closely with scientists and engineers to provide advice and design consultancy covering best practice, materials of construction, design, layout and manufacturing process route.
Equipment is often developed in conjunction with scientists’ leading to novel and patented systems or apparatus.
Computer Aided Design
Computer aided design using three dimensional solid modelling software allows the customer to view the component or complete machine during, and if required, throughout the design process. Detailed drawing an electronic data is produced for the manufacture of the required parts.
Our Design Engineers can generate:
- Complete (CAD) designs for visualisation, detailed drawings and electronic data for CAM, using Solid Edge and Delcam Powermill.
- Fully detailed 3D models for rapid prototyping.
- Fully detailed drawings for third party engineering companies who provide specialist machining processes, large quantity and repeat items.
