Statistics Group, Colworth Science Park
Colworth boasts a strong team of experienced Statisticians from a range of different backgrounds, 4 of whom have been awarded Chartered status by the Royal Statistical Society.
Our consultants are happy to provide any level of statistical support ranging from ad-hoc advice to long-term project involvement. We can help you to safeguard the efficiency of your decision-making through our knowledge of trial and experimental design, data analysis, interpretation and presentation.
How can we help you?
Planning and Design
Whichever field you operate in, appropriate planning of your experimental work, trials or surveys is critical to their success. We can help you ensure that the information that you collect will answer the questions that you need it to.
One example of this might be ensuring that you have recruited a sufficiently large number of subjects to provide evidence of a treatment effect (or alternatively learning that your resources are insufficient to answer your questions adequately – always better to know before you start!). Another example would be in planning multi-factor experiments with a view to either optimising or investigating effects of factors on one or more responses – we can help you plan your work in such a way that the information you need is acquired as efficiently as possible.
Analysis and Interpretation
The bleeding of clear, actionable conclusions from data is an area of traditional statistical expertise. Our training, software and experience can help you deduce, describe and quantify what your data can tell you, and just how large any remaining grey areas are.
The breadth of both Colworth’s historical remit and our own consultants’ experiences leave us well positioned to address a vast range of problems; we have experience in applying appropriate statistical techniques to the analysis of data resulting from Human Studies and Clinical Trials, laboratory experiments, sensory trials, studies involving statistical genetics, genomics, and metabolomics, production line and supply chain problems, surveys and questionnaires. Each of these areas offers its own challenges, and each specific problem requires its own solution.
Training and Software Support
The Statistics Group has established a strong track record of providing training courses in both statistical techniques and related software both at Colworth and further afield, several of our consultants having professional teaching experience. These courses are typically customised to suit their audience’s interests and existing level of expertise, and can be organised on demand.
Alternatively, our links with academia and commercial training providers mean that we are well placed to advise you on any specialised statistical or related software training requirements.
