Colworth Science Park At The Centre Of Exciting Discovery

15 July 2011

Colworth Science Park was at the centre of an exciting archaeological discovery this weekend as the most complete ancient pot ever recovered by Sharnbrook village was unearthed within its landscaped grounds.

Despite the unseasonal conditions, the rain didn’t dampen the spirits of seven archaeological enthusiasts who took part in the Sharnbrook village “Big Dig”, and made this find.

Goodman, who own, develop and manage Colworth Science Park, allowed archaeology enthusiasts from Higham Ferrers Research group and Colworth Science Park the opportunity to dig two test pits. It was in one of these test pits that the group unearthed fragments of an Ouse valley pot, thought to date back to medieval times. This local discovery also suggests that the remains of Colworth village extend closer to the access road than had originally been suspected and could mean more medieval artefacts, from the area’s vibrant history, are perfectly preserved under the grounds of the Park.
